Our Best Baby Shower Ideas: DIY Personalized Gifts for the Mommy-to-Be

A baby shower is one of the best occasions to celebrate with loved ones. You can make yours really fun and unique by DIYing your décor and providing an adorable craft project for guests to make for the expectant mom!

Our DIY Baby Shower Bundle includes all the tools you need to create cute-as-a-button onesies, baby shower banners, a personalized diaper bag, and more. You’ll get everything you need to throw an unforgettable baby shower and, with the products in this bundle, your guests can enjoy making a gift personally rather than buying it. The best part? When Mama looks back on each gift, she’ll remember who made it on that special day.

To see how Amy personalizes a diaper bag with these products, check out this week’s Maker Monday video:

Materials You’ll Need

Baby shower gifts can be so cute, but DIY baby shower gifts are even better. Use this tutorial and baby shower craft bundle to create the perfect baby gift for your next shower.

To make your own diaper bag, you’ll need our DIY Baby Shower Bundle, which includes:

Creating a Custom Diaper Bag to Gift

  1. Roll out your grosgrain ribbon on a flat surface. Lay the “shine” part of your adhesive stencil on the ribbon.

2. Squeeze a small amount of Over Yonder Gel Art Ink onto your spreader. Press the ink over the stencil with your spreader. Allow the ribbon to dry for about 2 hours.

3. Once the ink on your ribbon is dry, lay a lint-free cloth or rag over it and iron in a circular motion for about 4 to 5 minutes. This will help the ink set fully.

4. Next, you’ll work on the center panel of your canvas bag. Insert a piece of cardboard or scrap linoleum inside the bag. That will give the bag’s surface some structure and make it easier to work with.

5. Lay the “Let your light shine before others” stencil onto your bag (with the backing still on) to gauge how big the center panel of your bag will be. Remove the stencil, then tape off the center section of the bag with painters tape.

5. Then, use a tool with a flat edge to burnish along the tape. This will keep your ink from seeping and spreading across the canvas.

6. Apply Over Yonder Ink to the center section of your bag with a spreader. Like you did with your ribbon, allow it to dry for about 2 hours.

7. Next you’ll add a quote in a different color in the dry center panel of your bag. Lay your quote stencil on top of the center panel. You can tape the edges of the stencil onto your bag to protect it from paint.

8. Apply a small amount of Well I Declare Gel Art Ink over the stencil with your spreader. Remove stencil. Allow the quote to dry for about 2 hours.

9. Hot glue the stenciled ribbons along the edges of your bag’s center panel.
